Dear Members and Friends of the NFA,
Welcome to the 2022 NFA conference in beautiful Banff, Alberta!
The regular sessions on Saturday and Sunday feature 72 papers selected from 980 submissions. We thank our 45 associate program chairs and 334 program committee members for their help in putting together our excellent program. Our 2022 conference is smaller than usual, as we were required to make last-minute adjustments due to unexpected labor shortages in the Banff area. We expect to bounce back to normal next year in Toronto.
In addition to the regular sessions, Friday afternoon kicks off with our profession's promise. Four sessions are dedicated to PhD students, and two sessions, to early career researchers. We would like to extend a special thanks to Wharton Professor Vincent Glode and UBC Professor Lorenzo Garlappi for organizing these two events. All are welcome to attend the Friday paper presentations.
All welcome also to Chicago Booth Professor Pietro Veronesi's and UBC Sauder Professor Kai Li's Saturday breakfast session on the topic of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access. They will discuss pre-doctoral preparation programs that provide access to diverse students to onboard into the finance profession. Thanks to CMU Tepper Professor Burton Hollifield for moderating this discussion.
Saturday afternoon's keynote speaker is Professor Christine Parlour, the Sylvan C. Coleman Chair of Finance and Accounting at Berkeley Haas. The keynote immediately follows our Annual General Meeting, so you can't miss it.
Once again, welcome to the NFA!

Dear Members and Friends of the NFA,
The 2022 NFA conference is finally back in-person! Nathalie Moyen and Akiko Watanabe have put together an excellent program and invested a lot of time and effort to make the conference happen. We are delighted to see the quality of research and international attention grow each year.
The pandemic has presented many unique challenges for the NFA Board of Directors. Decisions had to be made with many contingencies planned for. The pandemic gave us an opportunity to develop our back-end conference software, with an eye to adding useful features for when the conference returned to in-person. For example, you will see that we now have a fully online program. What you will not see is that the software has been developed to make organizing future NFA conferences easier. Thank you to the entire board for all the time they have put into the association.
We would like to thank all the researchers who submitted their work to be considered for this year’s conference program, those who served as referees for papers, as well as those who agreed to serve as discussants and session chairs. All of this effort has been instrumental in making NFA conferences rewarding events for the participants. Last, but not least, we are also grateful for all our sponsors.
We look forward to greeting everyone in Banff, and to seeing you at more great Canadian destinations in the future. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to serve as the co-presidents of the association for 2021-22.
